Pilates studio in Morden

Project Overview

Pilates Studio, Lower Morden Lane

We worked closely with the owners of Pilates on the Lane to transform a garage space into a fully equipped Pilates studio in Morden. The goal was to create a calm, private space for small group and one-to-one sessions.

A Clever Use of Space

The original garage was completely reconfigured to provide enough room for multiple Pilates machines, without feeling cramped. We carefully planned the layout to allow comfortable movement and clear sightlines throughout.

Light and Comfort

Natural light was a key part of the design. Large windows and a new glazed door help create a bright, welcoming space. We used warm finishes and clean lines to give the studio a relaxed and professional feel.

Designed for Flexibility

The studio works well for individual and small group sessions. Equipment can be moved or reconfigured to suit different needs, making the space both practical and adaptable.

A Great Example of a Garage Conversion

This project shows what’s possible with thoughtful design. Whether you’re looking to build a home studio, convert an outbuilding, or create a professional space at home, this type of build is a great model for small, focused projects that add real value.

Frequently Asked Questions About Garage Conversions

Can Qubed manage the whole process?2025-07-26T17:22:32+01:00

Yes — we offer a full service from concept to completion. That includes design, planning advice, technical drawings, and support during the build. You get a clear process and a space that adds real value to your home or lifestyle.

How much does a garage conversion cost?2025-07-26T17:22:40+01:00

Costs vary depending on size, layout and how much work is needed, but converting a garage is generally more cost-effective than building a new extension. We’ll provide a clear, tailored estimate as part of the early design stage.

Will the space be warm and comfortable year-round?2025-07-26T17:22:48+01:00

Absolutely. We upgrade insulation, windows, flooring and heating to meet current standards — so the finished space feels like a proper room, not a converted garage. Comfort and energy efficiency are always part of the plan.

Can I convert my garage into a home office, studio, or guest room?2025-07-26T17:22:56+01:00

Yes — these are some of the most common uses. A garage can often be turned into a warm, well-lit space suitable for working, exercising, hosting guests, or even running a small business. See how we transformed a garage into a fully equipped Pilates studio in Morden for a great example.

Do I need planning permission to convert my garage?2025-07-26T17:19:12+01:00

In many cases, no. Most garage conversions fall under permitted development rights, especially if you’re not changing the external appearance much. However, there are exceptions — for example, if your home is listed, in a conservation area, or subject to restrictions. We’ll advise you on this from the start.
